Me as a Reader & Writer

Well, the perfect answer to how am I as a reader, would be that I absolutely love reading and I must have a book in my hand at all times. The truth is I absolutely hate reading, books anyway! I will read only what I am assigned to for classes. Therefor, I have no favorite author, or favorite book. The last book I think I read for actual enjoyment was in grade school, which was way back when. I guess I can't say I hate reading all that much though because while I'm at work you will most likely find me with a cosmo magazine, gossip magazine (people, us, enquirer, etc.), and sometimes even the newspaper in my hands. I can say the only reading that I have done that really touches me is what I read in the newspapers. ( man throwing his children over the bridge, marine killing 8 month old pregnat girl, etc.) My heart goes out to these families.

Let's talk about writing now. When I am faced with a writing task, the first thing I want to know is how long it has to be, and what it has to be about. I hate being forced to write about things that I couldn't care less about and have to ramble on about it for 10 pages straight. This is just not my cup of tea. I like to write about my own topics because then it is much easier to be interested in and want to write about. I wouldn't say I am ever nervous or anxious when asked to write something. I don't mind writing, I like to write how I speak more and not have to worry about formatting.

When I compare myself as a writer to a reader I see that I have to be interested in the subject at hand in order to want to work on it. I am sure that many of you can agree that if you are studying something you are not interested in, it makes it that much harder to want to stay focused on it. I have more patience while I'm writing something that reading it. When I read I like a book to catch my attention right in begining, which 9 times out of 10 that doesn't happen. (main reason for me to hate reading books.) On the other hand when I am writing, I like to revise to make sure eveything looks okay and sounds decent.
